How Can I Improve Horsepower With a Nissan Performance Chip Tune?

Improving Engine Performance with a Nissan Performance Chip

A performance chip is a great product for you to use on your Nissan vehicle if you would like to gain more horsepower and torque from the vehicle’s engine. Nissan performance chips can also improve the fuel efficiency of your vehicle’s engine. Performance chips are engine modifications that are used to adjust various internal aspects of a vehicle’s engine.

How a Performance Chip Works

A vehicle has a computer that controls how its engine and components operate. The engine’s timing and air-to-fuel ratio are two of the primary functions that are controlled by an engine’s computer. As the vehicle runs, the engine’s computer makes adjustments to the engine’s functions as necessary.

Manufacturers develop their vehicles with conservative parameters set for the computers of their vehicles’ engines. However, these settings leave a large amount of engine performance on the table, limiting the amount of power that engines produce.

When a driver uses a performance chip on their vehicle, they can use the chip to change the parameters of their vehicle’s engine. Crucial factors, like the engine’s timing or turbocharger boost pressure, can be adjusted through the use of a performance chip. Many performance chips come with pre-loaded maps that change vehicles’ engine settings once the chips are connected. However, some performance chips need to be tuned with unique settings.

Installing a Nissan Performance Chip

Performance Chip & Car Tuner - Chip Your Car - Orange NissanInstalling a Nissan performance chip simply requires a driver to connect the performance chip to the OBD port of their vehicle. Most performance chips are sold with the cables and hardware that are needed for their installation. Once connected, many of these chips can make engine parameter adjustments without needing to be tuned. However, some performance chips will need to be tuned by skilled technicians to ensure that the vehicles’ engines run reliably and properly. If you have made additional modifications to your vehicle and have added non-factory components, then you may need to have a Nissan performance chip tune done for the vehicle.

The Nissan Brand

Popular Models

At Chip Your Car, we have a range of Nissan performance chips for a variety of Nissan models. These are some of the most popular Nissan vehicles among our customers.

Nissan GT-R

The GT-R owes its birth to the long run of the Nissan Skyline that started back in the 1970s. The Skyline is still the model that is most identifiable with Nissan and the company looked to bring that model back into production after its last 13-year run during the 1990s. The GT-R R35 debuted for the North American market in 2009 with all-wheel drive, 6-speed tranny, and a V6 Twin Turbo capable of producing over 500 horsepower.

Nissan Maxima

The Maxima debuted back in 1980 when the company was still known as Datsun. The Maxima has undergone eight iterations over the next 41 years and continues to be a big seller for Nissan today. This mid-size luxury sedan is currently equipped with a 3.5L V6 which puts out over 300 hp.

Nissan Leaf

The Leaf was the first fully-electric vehicle to hit the market back in 2010 and continues to be a big seller today with close to 200,000 cars sold around the world. Nissan continues to improve on the electric battery with capacities at over 100 miles on a full 30 kWh battery.

Nissan Altima

Nissan first released the Altima way back in 1993 and has undergone six generations of production since that time. The Altima is Nissan’s mid-size sedan and has held its own against the Camry (Toyota) and Accord (Honda) over the last 28 years.

Nissan 350Z

The first Z-Car since 1995, the 350Z first showed up in Nissan showrooms back in 2002. The 350Z was a 2-seat coupe which also came in a convertible version and specialized in speed! The 350Z became very popular as a tuning car and Nissan ultimately ended production of the 350Z in 2009.
